Observation of Whales and Dolphins Whale Maritime National Park

The Whale Maritime National Park is located in the Pacific Ocean, between Punta Uvita and Punta Piuela, in the district of Cortes, Puntarenas Province. It was established as a National Park in December 14th, by the executive decree of the law No. 19441. It has a land extension of 110 hectares and a maritime extension of 5375 hectares.
This area was declared protected area in order to assure the reproduction and nesting of many turtle species, and also for preserving the productivity of the biological communities of this zone. It also protects different environments, such as: sand and rocky beaches, cliffs, islands, reefs, etc. It has a great value for environmental education and tourism.
The terrestrial part that links Punta Uvita Island with the coast is one of the scientists and tourists favorite to study geological formations.
As if the beauty that has the Whale Maritime National Park was not charming already, we will be able to see , if nature allows it, the colossal Humpback Whales (Megaptera novaeangliae), visitors of our country. We might also see different dolphin species. There will be a 4 hour tour, in search of these wonderful animals, being this time the best season to observe these mammals. Chances are 80%.
We will also do a sea exploration, with snorkel, where not only we will be able of cooling down in the sea waters, but we will also enjoy the maritime environments closer to the surface. And for those who want to, there is also an optional 2 hour kayak tour at sea.
Recommendations:
It's better to take along clothes specially design for the beach, and walks, it's much more comfortable because is lighter and loose. They're better pants that can take off the sleeves, and look like shorts. Don't forget a peaked cap.
